Funny Friday

I have always gotten after Todd for keeping all his old toys. Seriously, the man has trunks and boxes full of his childhood toys. We are talking Micro Machines, He-Man action figures and the original Transformers, Legos and Star Wars figures. And that is just to name a few! It wasn't until I had boys that I appreciated his toy-hoarding habit. They love Daddy's toys.

This is Todd showing the boys his pranks and tricks box. He is showing Andrew the trick pack of gum. You know, the kind where you ask someone to take a piece and it snaps your finger. Note the wicked giggle Drew gets after Todd suggest he show his sisters. . . .

This is little brother, being the brunt of big brother's prank. I guess if I get technical, he is really the brunt of Dad's pranks! Mean Dad. Why do you keep these "toys"?

Sunday Reflection

Favorite quote from a favorite person:

“Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he is being robbed. The fact is that most putts don’t drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to be just people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is like an old time rail journey... ...delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and a thrilling burst of speed. The trick is to thank the lord for letting you have the ride.” (President Gordon B. Hinckley)

Condo anyone?

My brother has been trying to sell his downtown SLC condo for over 7 months, ever since he left for much more sunshine in FL. I just thought I'd post it here to see if anyone knows anyone who might be looking for a place? And it even has a pool, folks! Check it out at this link. And if you want to read just how cool it was for him for nearly 10 years, he wrote about it here.

Funny Friday

Samba Baby
It doesn't seem at all entirely possible for this baby to move this way.
But it makes me laugh every time!
Thanks D for sharing it with me- :-)

Thoughtful Thursday

Cancer.
What an ugly word.
It forgives no one.
Attacks anyone
any time
any age.
A friend battles
one street over.
She will come out victor.
I am sure of it.
My uncle lost his war
two days ago.
Body is free
But he will be missed.
Talented
Giving
Kind
Love you Uncle Paul.
See you later.

Labor Day

We wanted to do something fun as a family.
We gave choices.
Hands down it was bowling at Fat Cats.
This boy has been begging for the better part of this year.
And he is good.
In fact, he took second place after Todd.
The kid has got some serious skills.

And, of course, for the financial side of our outing you can check out my IAHY post.

September So Far

I know that if I don't put up a few pictures then I will need to do an overhaul catch-up post like I did a few posts ago, so here is our busy September thus far.

Oh, my boy is getting so big! He started kindergarten. His teacher is Ms. Funk and he has lots of friends in his class. I sure hope she can keep up with them all! He loves kindergarten and feels so big. Looking at these pictures I realize just how old he is looking!

I had a girls only weekend with my sisters and Mom the first week of September. We went to Park City and stuffed ourselves silly with delicious sushi at the Flying Sumo--love Groupons! If you go, the winner was the Vegas Roll. Oh my yum!

We stayed in Midway at Zermatt Resort (such a nice place!--thanks Rasmussens!), talked until 2:30 a.m. telling stories and watching "Young Victoria" -- if you haven't seen it yet, get it at Redbox-- you'll love it! We went to Swiss Days the next day and though I didn't buy anything, it was a great time with some of my favorite people. I think next year is too long to wait. What do you say ladies, shall we do this quarterly? Well, sushi at least!

This is Mom's breakfast spread. You've got to love the bowl of caramel popcorn! Can't let the little bit from the night before go to waste-- that's my mama, oh how I love her!
I got a new niece! Her name is McKinley Mae. This pic shows how much growth can happen to a little babe in just 3 short months! My boy looks big. But, ain't she cute?

Lest we forget, the Colbster started preschool and can you tell folks just how excited he is? He really is! He loves going to school and having his own thing to be excited for. We are just doing a Joy School with some moms in the neighborhood.

Yesterday, we got to take the girls to The Lion King on Broadway at the Capitol Theater! We bought the tickets back in January and it was worth every penny! (Alli didn't love it and would probably disagree, but maybe she was just tired?) The costumes, singing, acting and stage effects were all amazing and I was so glad we could go. Besides, being there kept Todd from yelling at the radio because of the Cougars' loss!
I'm determined to be better at my postings, so until next time. . . .

Thoughtful Thursday

This was on the wall of our violin teacher's house and I have loved it! Such it is in so many things that we do in life.

"Only those who have the patience to do simple things perfectly, ever acquire the skill to do difficult things easily."
