Not made for cold

I don't know if it's thin blood, my thyroid imbalance or just winter in general, but I've decided I really don't like being cold! It's not even February and I'm ready for Spring already. Give me a beach, warm sun (with sunscreen of course) and a pina colada!

Most of the time at my house when I'm sitting anywhere longer than 2 minutes at a time, I'm in front of one of the 5 space heaters in my home. I NEVER go to check the mail anymore because I simply don't want to step into the frigid air. Am I crazy? Do I need to get a blood-draw? Somehow I've got to figure out why I seem to be the only one shivering everywhere we go.

In the meantime, activities like these make winter worth it right? Notice, however, that it's not me out there with the kids. I'm happy behind the camera thank you very much. Too darn cold. . .

Dream

A few weekends ago, my kids participated in a performance for The Dance Conservatory, their dance studio. It was SO fun because not only did my girls perform, but Andrew started out the show! The performance came from a book called "Dream", a beautiful, poetic story about one man's colorful journey through life. If anyone has a chance to read this "kids" book (though I think I appreciated the book more than my kids did) please take time to read it. It touched me.

I was so proud of Andrew for not being scared and for doing his part in front of a big audience 4 different times! The girls dance beautifully and I'm excited to see where their dance will take them. They both love to dance so much and aspire to get on point shoes someday. Kendra is in mini-company and dances 4 hours a week. We also added her to a modern class this year, which she LOVES! Alli is in a combo jazz/ballet class. The costumes were so much fun and they both love to perform. Thanks to all who came to watch them. Here are some photos for those who missed it.

What's Your Sign?

Do you ever wonder what law governs the voo-doo magic of horoscopes? I don't follow mine regularly, and usually roll my eyes at the whole idea, yet every now and again I'll stumble across my horoscope and it always leaves me scratching my head wondering how it is all done. Is it astrology? black magic? or just some really good guesses?

I'm an Aquarius, but only just barely. I share this blessed sign with big names like Jennifer Anniston, Justin Timberlake, John Travolta, Christina Ricci and Ellen DeGeneres. Though at times I might wish to shake my hips like John, sing like Justin, have hair like Jen and well, be as witty as Ellen, I suppose we all share the cosmic fates of personality, right? I may not know them each personally, but I wonder if the article I found today fits them as well as me.

Ok, so there are some things I might disagree with, but very few. I may not be "highly intellectual", wear flashy clothing and I don't always, as they say, maintain a "healthy balance between having the things that they need and putting money away". I also can't quite agree about the turquoise color of choice or the (ahem) ankle thingy. As my birthday is only a few days away, why not click here and those who really know me, just try and debunk it. And when you're done with that, what's your theory? How DO they do it?

Snow

This morning the settled snow winked at me
my car's lights illuminating the glassy specks
Stepping out the falling flakes kissed my face
Mother Nature's flirtatious way
To lure me in
Nudging the reminder in my clamorous life
That God is here.
